Portugal

D2 Entrepreneur / Independent Professional Visa

Non-EU, non-EEA and non-Swiss nationals who intend to establish or operate a business in Portugal, based on an investment already made or a genuine intention to establish or invest in a Portuguese business, or who intend to work as an independent professional under a service contract or written proposal, with professional recognition where the occupation is regulated. Portugal does not publish a general nationality-exclusion list; eligibility is determined from the applicant's citizenship, residence, admissibility, finances and proposed activity.

The applicant must present a genuine commercial project with an economic interest or regional need in Germany, expected to benefit the economy, with financing secured through own capital, a loan commitment, or a combination of funding.

Applicant holds a trade licence or company or business registration, with accommodation, sufficient funds, insurance and a clean record, and genuinely carries on the business.

Serbia

Temporary Residence and Single Permit for Self-employment or Startup

Foreign nationals registered in Serbia as a shareholder in a company, a sole proprietor, or a sole or controlling shareholder in another registered form of business activity. Citizenship determines whether the applicant must first obtain a long-stay D visa. Visa-free nationals may generally apply for the single permit electronically, including from abroad.

Work Residence Permit for Entrepreneur / Self-employed Person

The applicant must be lawfully staying in Georgia and prove genuine entrepreneurial activity, evidenced through business registration, tax records, and turnover meeting the required threshold.

Turkiye

Work Permit for Company Owner / Partner or Self-employed Foreign National

Applicant establishes or joins a Turkish company and meets current Ministry evaluation criteria for foreign company partners or self-employed applicants, including capital, activity, employment and role requirements as applicable. A separate independent work permit may be considered case by case for a foreign national working personally and independently.

Entrepreneur / Liberal Profession Residence Route

The activity must be carried on as the applicant's principal occupation in France, be lawful, economically viable, and consistent with the applicant's qualifications or professional experience. Regulated professions require the appropriate French authorization, qualification recognition, or professional registration.

Residence Permit as Self-employed Person

The business must serve an essential Dutch economic interest. The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) assesses personal experience, business plan and added value, normally requiring 30 points in each area or an alternative threshold, alongside Chamber of Commerce registration and sufficient income.

Professional Card for Self-employed Foreign Nationals

The business project must be economically, socially, culturally, artistically or sportingly valuable to the competent region (Flanders, Brussels-Capital or Wallonia), with qualifications, finances, market and compliance all assessed.

United Kingdom

Innovator Founder Visa

Founders must be 18 or older with an original, viable and scalable UK business proposition, and must normally demonstrate English at CEFR level B2. The endorsed business must be new, innovative, viable and scalable, and the founder must have generated or significantly contributed to the idea and take a key day-to-day role.

Entrepreneur Residence Authorization under Entrepreneurs Law

The business project must be innovative and of special economic interest to Spain. The applicant needs a suitable professional profile and credible financing, with economic value, innovation and jobs all assessed by ENISA before UGE-CE decides the residence application.

Malta Startup Residence Programme

Third-country founders aged at least 18, with a startup generally registered no more than seven years, operating in an innovative, technology or approved sector and meeting at least two official innovation tests, incorporated in Malta with a tangible presence.

Red-White-Red Card for Start-up Founders

Requires an innovative product, service, process or technology, a coherent business plan, and a founder who exercises controlling influence, together with at least 50 of 85 points across education, work experience, language, age, additional investment and business-incubator admission criteria.

Start-up Entrepreneur Programme (STEP)

Requires good character and an innovative, high-potential startup headquartered and controlled in Ireland, introducing a new or innovative product or service to international markets, with an experienced management team. The HPSU model should be capable of 10 Irish jobs and EUR 1 million in sales within three years.

Italia Startup Visa

The applicant must present a credible business model capable of qualifying as an Italian innovative startup: a limited company or cooperative under Italian or qualifying EU law, focused primarily on technological innovation and meeting at least one qualifying innovation measure.

United States

L-1A New Office

Requires a qualifying parent, subsidiary, branch or affiliate relationship between the U.S. petitioner and the foreign company. The applicant must generally have worked for the qualifying organization abroad for at least one continuous year during the relevant three-year period in an executive or managerial capacity, and the proposed U.S. role must also be executive or managerial.

E-2 Treaty Investor

The investor must hold citizenship of an E-2 treaty country, and the U.S. enterprise must also have treaty-country nationality, generally because at least 50% is owned by qualifying treaty-country nationals. The applicant invests a substantial amount in a real, active, non-marginal U.S. business and will develop and direct it.
